This class introduces the essential skills needed to create eye-catching designs using one of the most popular and user-friendly design tools. Learn the basics of design, like color, typography, and layout while creating awesome digital projects. Perfect for young creators who love art and technology!
Dungeons & Dragons Explorer's Guild
$151Roll for the initiative to learn Dungeons and Dragons! Students will create and roleplay their hero, explore dungeons, fight monsters, and most important of all, find the treasure! Students do not need to have played D&D before enrolling in this class. Beginners welcome!
Geocaching
$145In this course we explore the fun of geocaching or high-tech treasure hunting. Find hidden containers called geocaches on campus and in the community. Caches can be in containers as large as a statue or as small as the head of a nail. Discover how GPS (Global Positioning System) technology works using coordinates; then find hidden treasure almost anywhere. Through a series of hands-on activities and using a GPS device, we will learn about etiquette when finding caches, basics, tips, and tricks, and not only find hidden caches throughout the week but design and hide your own caches! This class will be outdoors and walking/hiking for much of the time. Please wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather. Caches are tailored to meet the needs of the middle age explorers! We may travel in 12-passenger vans.
Junior Aquarist Camp for Kids (JACK)
$159Dive deep into the MSUM Oceanarium and discover what it’s like to be a junior marine aquarist! The MSUM Oceanarium is an aquarium facility located in the lower level of Langseth Hall used as a living laboratory and outreach center. This camp is designed to inspire and educate kids on marine science and conservation. Activities during this program include: feeding stingrays and other marine organisms, learning animal handling skills, water quality testing, and more.

In this hand-building class, students will use clay and colorful decorating techniques to create an assortment of pieces, from figurines to personalized dinnerware. We recommend students wear old clothes. Projects will be fired and ready for pick up two weeks after the last day of class.

Whether you are new to Minecraft or a veteran of the game, and whether you prefer survival or creative mode, this is the session for you! Students will hone their Minecraft skills as they collaborate on projects with others in the class. Additionally, students will build and program robots all while playing with LEGOs! Students will have the opportunity to work through multiple activities to improve their robotics skills. The activities will focus on hands-on building, programming, experimenting, and problem-solving. They will also apply and adapt these skills by making their robots solve a variety of challenges. Collaboration, exploration, and fun are what this class is all about!

Space Rangers!

This introductory astronomy and space exploration class will take students on an interactive adventure beyond Earth’s atmosphere. Survival Series-Into the Wild

Trash to Treasure: The Art of Upcycling Found Objects
$141The old saying goes. “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” with this sculpture course, your child can explore this idea in the literal sense. Using recyclable materials, students can not only create artwork, but also practice good citizenship by taking care of their natural environment. In this course students will explore a wide variety of art media while creating 3D works of art. Each activity will provide your child with a hands-on, creative experience and beautiful masterpieces they’ll love.
Using Torches to Make Glass Beads
$159Making glass beads using a torch can be exciting and a challenge. You will learn to make a simple one-color bead and build upon your skills making more complex beads. You will also make hemp bracelets and necklaces to display your beads. Finally, you will learn how to make a simple glass sculpture. Please bring your own sunglasses.
Colorful Expressions
$139Welcome to "Colorful Expressions" an immersive art class designed to unleash your creativity and explore the vibrant world of colors along with different painting subjects. In this class, we will be focusing primarily on painting and exploring basic painting techniques. We will also learn about color mixing and experimenting with different brushes and tools. Through various projects, students will learn about self-expression, develop their creativity, and be excited to create their own masterpieces. We will explore different kinds of paints while learning about different artists. Join in on an imaginative journey where students will develop skills and a love for painting and self-expression.
Create like Greats!
$155In this class, students will get to know master artists and create their own masterpieces, similar to the greats. Join us on mini field trips to the Plains Art Museum, local parks, and the graffiti wall in downtown Fargo to learn about how artists create. Students will mimic these styles and create their works through drawing, painting, and sculpting. There will also be a gallery showcase at the end of the week showcasing the week's creations.

Archaeology & Geoscience of a Ghost Town
$225Join a real archaeological excavation AND learn to fly a drone! This course provides a unique opportunity to experience the science of archaeology and geoscience at a local, active archaeological site! 30 minutes east of Moorhead is a forgotten turn of the 20th Century ghost town called Winnipeg Junction. Each day, students will enjoy an immersive experience in both archaeology and geoscience. Students will be active participants in the excavation and documentation process of locating one of the town’s old saloons. Working side-by-side with undergraduate archaeology majors, students will carefully excavate, screen for artifacts, and map features. Students will learn how archaeology can reveal stories of the past. For the 2nd part of the day, they will learn how to operate UAVs (drones) and how geoscientists and archaeologists use drones for recognizing archaeological sites or documenting research areas. Students will each get hands-on training in the use of UAVs and their various uses in science.

We will be building and coding lots of crazy creations daily and sharing them with parents through Seesaw. This class is designed to follow Lego We Do course and prepare students for future Lego robotics. It is strongly encouraged that a child has previously participated in the Lego We Do class or has experience with Lego Education.

$155You will have 'sew' much fun in this class! Turn gloves, socks, sweaters, and loose buttons into your own lovable stuffed creatures. Create one-of-a-kind stuffed elephants, owls, monsters, robots, rocket ships, and more! No previous sewing experience is required.

$147In week two of the survival series, students will dive into the essentials of shelter construction and fire-building, two key skills for staying safe and warm in the wilderness. Using only paracord and natural materials, students will design and construct shelters that provide protection from the elements. They’ll also master fire-starting techniques with minimal supplies, learning how to create and sustain a fire in various outdoor conditions. With the majority of the class held at the MSUM Regional Science Center, this hands-on experience will give students a chance to put their skills to the test in a real outdoor environment. By the end of the week, each student will have built their own fire and shelter kit to take home, equipping them with the tools and knowledge to confidently tackle their next adventure!

Geocaching
$145In this course we explore the fun of geocaching or high-tech treasure hunting. Find hidden containers called geocaches on campus and in the community. Caches can be in containers as large as a statue or as small as the head of a nail. Discover how GPS (Global Positioning System) technology works using coordinates; then find hidden treasure almost anywhere. Through a series of hands-on activities and using a GPS device, we will learn about etiquette when finding caches, basics, tips, and tricks, and not only find hidden caches throughout the week but design and hide your own caches! This class will be outdoors and walking/hiking for much of the time. Please wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather. Caches are tailored to meet the needs of the middle age explorers! We may travel in 12-passenger vans.

Using Torches to Make Glass Beads

Harry Potter Club

Let's explore the wizarding world through tricky trivia, brewing potions, studying charms, and learning about the curses. We will practice spells with our own hand-made wands and find out what makes hippogriffs and horntails so unique.
Junior Aquarist Camp for Kids (JACK)
$159Dive deep into the MSUM Oceanarium and discover what it’s like to be a junior marine aquarist! The MSUM Oceanarium is an aquarium facility located in the lower level of Langseth Hall used as a living laboratory and outreach center. This camp is designed to inspire and educate kids on marine science and conservation. Activities during this program include: feeding stingrays and other marine organisms, learning animal handling skills, water quality testing, and more.
LEGO Spike!
$151Together we will learn about coding, motors, sensors, and teamwork while using Spike Lego Education kits. We will be building and coding lots of crazy creations daily and sharing them with parents through Seesaw. This class is designed to follow Lego We Do course and prepare students for future Lego robotics. It is strongly encouraged that a child has previously participated in the Lego We Do class or has experience with Lego Education.
Making Charms, Toys, & Jewelry with Polymer Clay!
$157Think outside the box with new polymer skills! We are going to use polymer clay to make handy items like animals, unique jewelry, robots, monsters, luggage tags, movie characters, ornaments, and more. This is a fun and amazing class!
Minecraft & Legorobotics
$151Now offered in a half-day format, this mash-up class will allow students to move between LEGO Robotics and the world of Minecraft to push their creativity and problem-solving skills to the limit. Whether you are new to Minecraft or a veteran of the game, and whether you prefer survival or creative mode, this is the session for you! Students will hone their Minecraft skills as they collaborate on projects with others in the class. Additionally, students will build and program robots all while playing with LEGOs! Students will have the opportunity to work through multiple activities to improve their robotics skills. The activities will focus on hands-on building, programming, experimenting, and problem-solving. They will also apply and adapt these skills by making their robots solve a variety of challenges. Collaboration, exploration, and fun are what this class is all about!
Pottery on the Wheel
$160You will be on your way to becoming a potter by experiencing the beginning techniques of throwing on the wheel. You will create and personalize ceramic pieces. Designed to accommodate a variety of skill levels. We recommend students wear old clothes. Projects will be fired and ready for pick up two weeks after the last day of class. Storybook STEM

In this engaging, hands-on class, students will explore the exciting connections between Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) and their favorite stories. Students will put their problem-solving skills to the test while applying real-world STEM concepts. Along the way, they will build, experiment, and collaborate, developing critical thinking and creativity in a fun, supportive environment. $155This class would be the next step up after the Stuffed Course. This hand-sewing class builds on skills and techniques learned in the first class and takes it to another level through more advanced projects including a rocket ship, teddy bear, monster, and other crazy creatures.
Survival Series-Into the Wild

In this hands-on survival course, students will learn essential wilderness first aid skills to stay safe and respond effectively in emergency situations. Throughout the week, we’ll cover basic trauma care, including how to treat cuts, burns, and fractures, as well as how to recognize and respond to environmental dangers such as frostbite, heat stroke, and dehydration. Students will also explore injury prevention strategies, learning how to navigate the wilderness safely and avoid common hazards from plants and wildlife. With interactive demonstrations and real-world survival scenarios, this class will provide valuable life-saving skills for any outdoor adventure!
Trash to Treasure: The Art of Upcycling Found Objects
$141The old saying goes. “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” with this sculpture course, your child can explore this idea in the literal sense. Using recyclable materials, students can not only create artwork, but also practice good citizenship by taking care of their natural environment. In this course students will explore a wide variety of art media while creating 3D works of art. Each activity will provide your child with a hands-on, creative experience and beautiful masterpieces they’ll love.
