Survival 101
$281Ready to explore the outdoors and build real-world survival skills? This hands-on summer course introduces key survival principles on Day 1, then puts them into action at the MSUM Regional Science Center and Buffalo River State Park. Students will spend most of their time outside learning and practicing essential skills such as first aid, shelter building, fire starting, land navigation, signaling for help, and water purification. Designed for beginners and experienced students alike, this course builds confidence, teamwork, and practical outdoor knowledge.
American Sign Language
$147Come dive into a completely new world with American Sign Language (ASL)! Students will learn how to communicate using ASL and get a glimpse into Deaf culture. Students will understand the challenges deaf people face in today's society and learn a new language at the same time!

Throughout the session, students will build their Spanish vocabulary and grammar skills through a variety of interactive lessons and engaging activities. No prior experience is required, just your enthusiasm for learning Spanish.
Geocaching
$147In this course we explore the fun of geocaching or high-tech treasure hunting. Find hidden containers called geocaches on campus and in the community. Discover how GPS (Global Positioning System) technology works using coordinates; then find hidden treasure almost anywhere. Through a series of hands-on activities and using a GPS device, we will learn about etiquette when finding caches, basics, tips, and tricks, and not only find hidden caches throughout the week but design and hide your own caches! This class will be outdoors and walking/hiking for much of the time. Please wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather.
Junior Aquarist Camp for Kids (JACK)
$160Dive deep into the MSUM Oceanarium and discover what it’s like to be a junior marine aquarist! The MSUM Oceanarium is an aquarium facility located in the lower level of Langseth Hall used as a living laboratory and outreach center. This camp is designed to inspire and educate kids on marine science and conservation. Activities during this program include: feeding stingrays and other marine organisms, learning animal handling skills, water quality testing, and more.

In this hand-building class, students will use clay and colorful decorating techniques to create an assortment of pieces, from figurines to personalized dinnerware. We recommend students wear old clothes that they are okay with getting a bit dirty. Projects will be fired and ready to pick up two to three weeks after the last day of class.
Lego We Do
$149Looking for a class for your 7-10 year old to prepare them for Lego Robotics? Come build Lego models that have real working motors that students will program to do a variety of fun activities while gaining skills in the STEM field! This will be the last year we are offering Lego We Do!
Minecraft & Legorobotics
$151This mash-up class will allow students to move between LEGO Robotics and the world of Minecraft Education to push their creativity and problem-solving skills to the limit! Students will hone their Minecraft skills as they collaborate on projects with others in the class. Students will also program Lego robots while designing and building attachments to complete tasks on game boards. All activities in Minecraft & Legos will be hands-on programming, experimenting, and problem-solving. Collaboration, exploration, and fun are what this class is all about!
Polymer Clay Creations
$157Come learn how to sculpt with polymer clay! In this class we will be making jewelry, magnets, small sculptures, and more! We will explore new skills and sculpting techniques. This class is designed for any ability level. Join us for a week of fun and creativity! This class is great for beginners, but also provides opportunities for experienced students to build on their knowledge.

Space Rangers

The Voyager’s Archive: A Master-Craft Expedition
$147In this immersive craft-studio students will become archivists, building professional grade and hand-bound Voyager's vault journals from scratch. Mastering various craft disciplines: Gelli-plate printing to create topographic textures, linocut & collagraph printing, tactile fiber weaving to build secret pockets. Students will learn book-binding techniques and perhaps even hemp-knotting to create lanyards for their books. By the final day, every student will leave with a rugged, one-of-a-kind field guide filled with their own prints, hidden compartments, and woven artifacts.
Using Torches to Make Glass Beads
$159Making glass beads using a torch can be exciting and a challenge. You will learn to make a simple one-color head and build upon your skills making more complex beads. You will also make hemp bracelets and necklaces to display your beads. Finally, you will learn how to make a simple glass sculpture. Please bring your own sunglasses.

Drawing Adventures: From Still-Life to Imagination
$145Students will first learn the fundamentals of drawing, then gradually build their own imaginative style to add to their pieces. On day one, students draw a still life from observation, then add their own creative twists, such as tiny characters or playful changes to the objects. As the week progresses, they design original characters, create environments for them to live in, and combine everything into a final illustration or short comic by the last day.

$149Game on is a fun engaging summer class designed to build teamwork, problem solving skills, creativity, and social skills through play. Learners have the opportunity to participate in a variety of games such as board games, outdoor games, water games, and game creation activities. These games promote leadership, communication, and movement in a low pressure high fun environment! A unique feature to this course is the Create Your Own Game component where students build, design and test out their own games. Students will develop resilience and creativity through this fun opportunity! This course blends structured play, physical activity and imagination making it a perfect summer experience for students who love to move, create and play!

Outdoor Adventures

In this course, students will learn about biology and ecology, work on craft projects for their backyard or balcony, and explore the natural world around us. We'll learn to identify some local flora and fauna, understand ecosystems inside and out, and try to figure out why some creatures are the way they are. Students should be ready to get a little dirty, since we'll be spending some time every day roaming the MSUM campus, discovering the wilderness that is right in front of us.
Perler Bead Possibilities
$149Take melting bead art to the next level! In this hands-on class, students will plan, design, and create unique Perler bead projects ranging from colorful decorative pieces to functional items, games, and exciting 3-D builds. Participants will learn how to follow patterns, design their own creations, and use spatial planning skills to bring their ideas to life. Projects will progress from simple designs to more complex builds, allowing students to build confidence while expressing their creativity.

Still So Sew Easy
$163In this level two sewing class we will continue to explore the craft of sewing. Moving into more advanced patterns and handmade projects with Fat Quarters! Before taking this course, your child should have either completed So Sew Easy (level one) and/or be completely comfortable with the basics of using a sewing machine (able to thread machine, complete simple stitches, thread bobbin, etc.)

$147In this course we explore the fun of geocaching or high-tech treasure hunting. Find hidden containers called geocaches on campus and in the community. Discover how GPS (Global Positioning System) technology works using coordinates; then find hidden treasure almost anywhere. Through a series of hands-on activities and using a GPS device, we will learn about etiquette when finding caches, basics, tips, and tricks, and not only find hidden caches throughout the week but design and hide your own caches! This class will be outdoors and walking/hiking for much of the time. Please wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather.

Using Torches to Make Glass Beads
$159Making glass beads using a torch can be exciting and a challenge. You will learn to make a simple one-color head and build upon your skills making more complex beads. $155This 1-week studio course is designed for serious Art students looking to refine and expand their portfolio with high-quality, concept-driven paintings. Led by an experienced AP Art instructor who has taught in California and Virginia, this class provides the space, structure, and expert guidance needed to extend or finalize creative concepts in preparation for submission for AP credit. A primary goal is to complete 2-3 strong portfolio pieces, with critiques and individualized feedback helping to shape their artistic statements and have fun.
Drawing Adventures: From Still-Life to Imagination
$145Students will first learn the fundamentals of drawing, then gradually build their own imaginative style to add to their pieces. On day one, students draw a still life from observation, then add their own creative twists, such as tiny characters or playful changes to the objects.
