Multi-Media Art

We will be exploring value, color, style, and brushwork, along with form and sculpture in this class. Demonstrations will inspire and assist in projects taking shape from beginning to end. Come prepared for lots of fun and occasional paint splatters!
Creating Comics
$147Learn to tell a story through creating your own characters and experimenting with graphite drawings. Students will develop their very own comic style. Every student will have a comic book or comic strip they created and illustrated to take home. All skill levels welcome!
Minecraft & Legorobotics
$281In this mash-up class, students will move between LEGO Robotics and the world of Minecraft to push their creativity and problem-solving skills to the limit. Whether you are new to Minecraft or a veteran of the game, and whether you prefer survival or creative mode, this is the session for you! Students will hone their Minecraft skills as they collaborate on projects with others in the class. Additionally, students will build and program robots all while playing with LEGOs! Students will have the opportunity to work through multiple activities to improve their robotics skills. The activities will focus on hands-on building, programming, experimenting and problem-solving. They will also apply and adapt these skills by making their robots solve a variety of challenges. Collaboration, exploration, and fun are what this class is all about!
American Sign Language
$145Come dive into a completely new world with American Sign Language (ASL)! Students will learn how to communicate using ASL and get a glimpse into Deaf culture. Students will understand the challenges deaf people face in today’s society and learn a new language at the same time!
Digital Storytelling
$141Do you love making up stories and writing, drawing, or acting them out? Now you can take your stories into the digital universe where the only limits are your imagination! Create your own personal character and learn the essentials of creative writing. Explore all sorts of digital storytelling mediums like online picture books, “magnetic poetry,” cartoon strips, and stop motion animation! The stories are already in your head, now make them come to life!
Dungeons & Dragons
$149Roll for the initiative to learn Dungeons and Dragons! Students will create and roleplay their hero, explore dungeons, fight monsters, and most important of all, find the treasure! Students do not need to have played D&D before enrolling in this class. Beginners welcome!
Experimental Printmaking
$147Come explore printmaking! Students in this class will dive into learning a variety of methods of printmaking. These include relief, collagraph, monotypes, Gelli plates, and screen printing. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with collages, stencils, line, color, and texture to create an array of fun prints to take home. The projects will be very hands-on and colorful. Be prepared to get creative and messy!
Geocaching I
$139In this introductory course, we explore the fun of geocaching or high-tech treasure hunting. Find hidden containers called geocaches on campus and in the community. Caches can be in containers as large as a statue or as small as the head of a nail. Discover how GPS (Global Positioning System) technology works using coordinates; then find hidden treasure almost anywhere. Through a series of hands-on activities and using a GPS device, we will learn about etiquette when finding caches, basics, tips, and tricks, and not only find hidden caches throughout the week but design and hide your own caches! This class will be outdoors and walking/hiking for much of the time. Please wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather. Caches are tailored to meet the needs of young explorers! We may also travel in 12-passenger vans, so if your child needs a booster seat, please provide one.
Graphic Novels: Telling a Story with Words & Pictures
$139By reading excerpts from a variety of graphic novels, students will learn the basics of storytelling involving both words and pictures. By the end of the week, students will have written their own graphic novel, either electronically or by hand.
Jewelry Creations with Polymer Clay
$160In this class you will have the opportunity to learn how to create your own jewelry. We will be making a wide variety of earrings as well as a necklace or two. You will be able to show your friends and family your unique new skillset as you wear your creations out of the classroom. This year we will focus on a variety of different subject matter ranging from simple geometric shapes to your favorite snacks and so much more! For artists without their ears pierced you will have the option to make clip on earrings. This class is a great way to express your personal style or even make somebody special a gift or two.

In this hand-building class, students will use clay and colorful decorating techniques to create an assortment of pieces, from figurines to personalized dinnerware. We recommend students wear old clothes. Projects will be fired and ready for pick up two weeks after the last day of class.
Lego We Do
$141Looking for a class for your 7 to 10 year old to prepare them for Lego Robotics? Come build Lego models that have real working motors that students will program to do a variety of fun activities while gaining skills in the S.T.E.M. field!

Super Science!
$141Join us for Super Science! As curiosity drives our exploration, this course will engage your young innovator to answer questions through hands-on experiments, design, and investigation. We will explore the spectacular world of science and look to answer the everyday questions of our youngest learners. Some topics include magnetism, force, and electricity. Our explorations at camp will help students develop their senses and their overall awareness and relationship with the world around them.
Using Torches to Make Glass Beads
$151Making glass beads using a torch can be exciting and a challenge. You will learn to make a simple one-color bead and build upon your skills making more complex beads. You will also make hemp bracelets and necklaces to display your beads. Finally, you will learn how to make a simple glass sculpture. Please bring your own sunglasses.

Creative Storytelling & Illustration for Kids

Kids love listening to stories but making up their own can promote important skills like creativity and critical thinking. As we explore the elements of storytelling, we will stretch our imaginations with creative exercises. We'll learn how to outline stories and design unique characters. By the end of the class, we will have created our own individual short storybooks complete with illustrations. Most importantly, we'll have practiced using our imaginations.
Digitally Sketch, Paint & Create with Procreate for iPad
$141In this class, we'll be covering all the Procreate basics, and then doing a follow-along drawing where we’ll learn about all the most essential Procreate tools and features as we create digital illustrations together as well as designing on your own. This class is perfect for kids who love to create, draw, and paint. Have your iPad with Procreate and Apple Pencil ready! Let’s draw! Procreate is the complete art studio you can take anywhere, packed with unique features and intuitive creative tools. Computer Science Camp
$100Computer science can be an exciting challenge! Whether you dream of becoming a Google engineer or hope to launch your own mobile game, it all begins with software development. This course will teach you the basic concepts and functionality of Java, a programming system used to create games, mobile apps, and much more. Students will experience hands-on programming exercises, group participation, and collaborative learning to develop their own Java applications! To enroll in the course, students should be in/or entering high school (9th-12th grade), class will be held Monday-Friday. Please feel free to bring your own laptop if you would like. The class will take place in an MSUM computer science lab. -

Create like Greats
$147In this class, students will get to know master artists and create their own masterpieces in similar ways as the greats. Join us on mini field trips to the Plains Art Museum, a local park, and the graffiti wall downtown Fargo to learn about how artists create. Students will mimic these styles and create their own masterpieces through drawing, painting, and sculpting.

Junior Aquarist Camp for Kids (JACK)
$139Dive deep into the MSUM Oceanarium and discover what it’s like to be a junior marine aquarist! The MSUM Oceanarium is an aquarium facility located in the lower level of Langseth Hall used as a living laboratory and outreach center. This camp is designed to inspire and educate kids on marine science and conservation. Activities during this program include: feeding stingrays and other marine organisms, learning animal handling skills, water quality testing, and more.

In our beginning sewing CFK sessions sewers will learn the basics of using a machine, how to prep and cut fabric, and master the beginning skills they need to create fun age-appropriate projects!

$141Does your child enjoy singing? Join us for a week of joyful music-making! Students will have a chance to make friends with other young musicians, play music games, develop their vocal music skills, and perform in a choir concert open to the community. Family and friends will be encouraged to join us in the audience! Inspired by the Kodály philosophies of music education, we believe that music is for all. All experience levels are invited to participate! Students should plan on bringing a bag lunch.

Laser Camp
$145Laser camp is a fun and exciting course that introduces scientific fundamentals and properties of light, laser safety, and technology used for laser scanning and light shows. Campers will be able to combine their artistic creativity with laser light and will create a ‘laser song’ at the end of the week to showcase what they have learned. The camp will cover light forms, reflection & refraction, how light travels, laser technology, and much, much more! -

3D Printing & Design for Beginners
$149Come and learn the beginning basics of 3D printing and design! In this class, students will navigate the TinkerCAD software and use the Engineering Design Process to design a variety of hands-on projects – all while practicing 21st-century skills. At the end of the session, students will get to take their 3D-printed projects home. Curiosity, imagination, and discovery are key elements in this class!

Clay Exploration!
$160Sculpting with clay is a fun and exciting challenge! In this class, you will learn to hand-build with clay through a variety of methods. You’re going to roll crazy coil projects, slap down some slabs, and create your very own wacky woodland animal sculptures. We will explore the nature around campus and be inspired by the amazing outdoors while we work on our clay skills. Connect to the outdoors and build your very own nature-inspired projects!

Dear Dinosaurio Explores the World!
$141Learn Spanish and explore the world with Dear Dinosaurio. Join Dinosaurio on a Spanish language adventure! We will learn Spanish through stories, make art and visit all seven continents. Do you want to experience the Northern Lights, visit the deepest part of the ocean, explore the Crystal Caves and climb a volcano? This class is a great place for kids who know some Spanish already, Spanish immersion students or for beginners!

Exploring Color!
$147Color is everywhere and has inspired artists for years! You can mix colors together to create new unique colors you've never seen before. Experimenting with color is beneficial to developing creativity, but it can also be fun and exciting. As we learn more about how colors interact, we will do fun experiments such as making our own color recipes, dyeing our own flowers, and making tie-dye paper! We'll also learn about color theory and different artists who use color in creative ways. Using self-guided exploration, we will uncover all that color has to offer and as a final project, we will create a giant painting with paint bombs that all the young artists get to sign.

Using Torches to Make Glass Beads
$151Making glass beads using a torch can be exciting and a challenge. You will learn to make a simple one-color bead and build upon your skills making more complex beads. Experimenting with color is beneficial to developing creativity, but it can also be fun and exciting. As we learn more about how colors interact, we will do fun experiments such as making our own color recipes, dyeing our own flowers, and making tie-dye paper! We'll also learn about color theory and different artists who use color in creative ways. Using self-guided exploration, we will uncover all that color has to offer and as a final project, we will create a giant painting with paint bombs that all the young artists get to sign.

Junior Aquarist Camp for Kids (JACK)

$281In this mash-up class, students will move between LEGO Robotics and the world of Minecraft to push their creativity and problem-solving skills to the limit. Whether you are new to Minecraft or a veteran of the game, and whether you prefer survival or creative mode, this is the session for you! Students will hone their Minecraft skills as they collaborate on projects with others in the class. Additionally, students will build and program robots all while playing with LEGOs! Students will have the opportunity to work through multiple activities to improve their robotics skills. Join us on mini field trips to the Plains Art Museum, a local park, and the graffiti wall downtown Fargo to learn about how artists create.
